Dior's 70th anniversary exhibition was largest fashion exhibition ever held in Paris
We were asked to create the windows and artwork for a giant hot air balloon inside the Galerie Lafayette department store. Since the event celebrated the handmade craft of the House of Dior, our displays had to carry the same feeling. For our night sky backdrops, we decided to use thick, built up layers of paint to differentiate them from digital reproductions. Glass beads were placed on top of certain stars, and pinpoints of light were allowed to shine through holes in the canvas. Astrological objects, made up of thousands of individual brass 'brush strokes' went in front of these canvases and finally we engineered two pendulum frames to take zodiacs and phases of the moon gently back and forth across the canvas night skies
